well lads my starter is on its last legs (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) .. and i heard the mk4 starter is a good upgrade wat engine is the starter i need of ?
and dose it need to be changed to fit ?
my car is a mk2 golf with a 1.6 td engine and a 020 gearbox

wont work afaik your best bet is to use a mk 3 starter
