I've been doing a good bit of motorway driving up and down to galway lately and was just thinking cruise control would be handy.
Just wondering is it expensive to fit? I dont have a mfsw and i think it's the midline computer that i have? i.e. display screen is split at the middle, has miles until empty, trip computer, actual and average mpg, average speed. Is it a much more difficult job to with the mid line as opposed to the high line computer? Not really interested in doing it myself because basically i'd be guessing my way and probably make a prick of it. I don't mind travelling a bit if needed, I'm living in Dublin but the missus is based in kildare so i'm down that side a good bit and i'm obviously on the M6 a good bit aswell So any advice and direction would be appreciated Cheers lads -------------------- '08 VW Golf GT Sport 2.0 tdi 140bph, Reflex Silver - front and rear valance colour coded, 17" Classix alloys - 225/45/17, IPOD connection, Joe Power remap, ITG panel filter, R-Line fog grills, GTI front splitter sprayed gloss black, german plates

It depends which stering wheel control module you have. The kit (Stalk and a wire) is £55-60 in P&R Chances are you have the wire already but wont know until you start taking trim off.
I'm fitting it to my mk5 this evening and hopefully it should take less than an hour. Get it scanned with VCDS to find out which module you have. I can do it if there is nobody closer (I'm from ennis but in galway once or twice a week) -------------------- ![]() pd130 | ChippedIre Remapped | Sachs Race Engineering Clutch | 312mm front brakes with Ferodo DS2500 | Heated Leather Recaros | .:R32 Steering Wheel | Bora Sport Clocks | Bora Vents | Net Optic to Brushed Alu | VCDS v908 + VagTacho |

Sure let us know how ya get on installing the cruise control, your ed 30 will want for nothing after that -------------------- '08 VW Golf GT Sport 2.0 tdi 140bph, Reflex Silver - front and rear valance colour coded, 17" Classix alloys - 225/45/17, IPOD connection, Joe Power remap, ITG panel filter, R-Line fog grills, GTI front splitter sprayed gloss black, german plates

I did a bit of research and your car should have the correct module for c/c. So all you need is the kit either from a dealer or ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CRUISE-CONTROL-KIT-G...=item5d29a477ff Gona go and fit mine now. I'll report back EDIT: The stalk didn't arrive today. It's out for delivery tomorrow. -------------------- ![]() pd130 | ChippedIre Remapped | Sachs Race Engineering Clutch | 312mm front brakes with Ferodo DS2500 | Heated Leather Recaros | .:R32 Steering Wheel | Bora Sport Clocks | Bora Vents | Net Optic to Brushed Alu | VCDS v908 + VagTacho |

well Kevin How did ya get on fitting the cruise control? Getting off the wheel and column trim was fine. You need a special spline bit to get the steering wheel nut off, which i had already from fitting the R32 wheel to the mk4. You need a torx T5 bit/screwdriver to remove the steering wheel controller. I tried every place in ennis yesterday but couldn't get it. I've ordered it and it should be here today or monday at the latest. So the car is sitting in the garage with the wheel and steering column trim off... -------------------- ![]() pd130 | ChippedIre Remapped | Sachs Race Engineering Clutch | 312mm front brakes with Ferodo DS2500 | Heated Leather Recaros | .:R32 Steering Wheel | Bora Sport Clocks | Bora Vents | Net Optic to Brushed Alu | VCDS v908 + VagTacho |

well Kevin How did ya get on fitting the cruise control? I finished it this evening. Works fine. The screw holding in the steering wheel module is T9. You need a T55 bit to remove the steering wheel. The cruise stalk part number is 1K0 953 513G 9B9. It cost me £51.93+vat in P&R I'd have it fitted and coded in a half hour if you want me to do it for you. -------------------- ![]() pd130 | ChippedIre Remapped | Sachs Race Engineering Clutch | 312mm front brakes with Ferodo DS2500 | Heated Leather Recaros | .:R32 Steering Wheel | Bora Sport Clocks | Bora Vents | Net Optic to Brushed Alu | VCDS v908 + VagTacho |

Hi Kevin Want to get this mod done soon! Could you tell me which is the the correct module for c/c ?? I just want to check my car has the correct module before I buy the stalks etc. Thanks Kev Well Kev, The rule of thumb is if you have mfa (even the half one) you have the right module. There are 1 or 2 modules that have bugs in them that dont work with c/c but they are rare enough. Here's a list from ross-tech: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/S...Module_Versions I dont know if your car will need the extra wire fitted from the sw module to the plenum chamber. Most '05 and early '06 gti's need the wire. It comes with the cruise control kit. The part number listed above is just for the stalk. You would probably find out handy enough on Briskoda. -------------------- ![]() pd130 | ChippedIre Remapped | Sachs Race Engineering Clutch | 312mm front brakes with Ferodo DS2500 | Heated Leather Recaros | .:R32 Steering Wheel | Bora Sport Clocks | Bora Vents | Net Optic to Brushed Alu | VCDS v908 + VagTacho |

Well Kevin Fairplay lad, i might take ya up on your offer cheers Paul It might be safer to buy the cruise control kit. Its only a pound or 2 more and the wire cant be bought separately. If you're collecting stuff from P&R give me a shout first. The lads left something out of my last order. -------------------- ![]() pd130 | ChippedIre Remapped | Sachs Race Engineering Clutch | 312mm front brakes with Ferodo DS2500 | Heated Leather Recaros | .:R32 Steering Wheel | Bora Sport Clocks | Bora Vents | Net Optic to Brushed Alu | VCDS v908 + VagTacho |
