We tried to convince a few peple that a early 60's bug with a 4 speed box could run 10.2's all day long in the night club on saturday night. Man that was funny!

Thats what I thought, LOL then I realised none of em actually read mags, they just look at the pictures!!! The only way to do it is to hit the where it hurts............ on tarmac!!! Justin whats happinen with the Irish Dub Alliance? Did they ever get to a strip again and has anyone run good times? Paul Hamilton, 9.95 thats a new one to me, I must look that up! Myself and Bohall were pretending to be Team Hairdresser, Bohall being Richie Webb, hence the 10.2!! We slag the modified guys and their jap stuff, when truth be known alot of the guys on this forum are cut from the same cloth, just they have a VW badge on their ride! I put up a few movie links of fast aircoolers, and look at the number of views!! The same way this section of the forum only has the same few posters and lurkers! Most of the guys cant see VW heritage past the MK4, its only the guys into MK1 and 2's that are showing any form of aircooled love as their scene has gone all retro and old school at the moment! -------------------- Signature removed by Mod team due to offensive nature.

IDA - everybody is collecting and building before the racing starts again in the Spring,
lots of really top motors being put together, hopefully one of us (won't be me) will put down the fastest time, I think it was around 13.5ish from a Subaru last time Top 2 video clips of this year for me were, Paul's 9.95 and Richie's huge wheelie (scares the sh!t outta me TBH) |

The 9.95 is on the www.vwspeedshop.co.uk website on the video page,
modestly hidden behind a couple of lines of text at the bottom of the page. And Richie's 10.43 wheelie is here - http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=46...483&pl=true These give me goosebumps |

I was at Quickshift early 2005, the quickest Irish Car was Trackday Preformance's R31 Skyline at high eleven's! I just thought man must get me some Veedubbleyaz over here! Can you image the shock on the punters faces! Justin did you see the report in one of the mags when 10 of the Outlaws were invited to a Jap day in Avonpark by some Jap magazine! Out of the 10 run shoot out it was Aircoled VW's 9, Jap 1. With Mr Webb running the fastest time of 10.2 and beating the fastest Jap car there, a Skyline!!! My mate Fonz (flamed ghia) helped out Richie 2 years ago with Team hairdressers so I got to hang around the pits for an hour or 2 at Bug Jam! Ive always loved his bug just coz its so stock looking, apart from the cage and the fact that the decklid will no longer fit! Hey even the light work. You know the way alot of the VWDRC cars are all fiberglass fronted and graphics, when his would look at home being driven Stanford Hall by an ole pair - well sort of! -------------------- Signature removed by Mod team due to offensive nature.

Exactly why I like those 2 bugs in particular, road legal, and more importantly road driven and still full bodied but insane on the strip
This was brought to my attention again recently when I picked up a mag in Easons with the cover claiming "world's fastest EVO" with something crazy like 880BHP, had a quick flick through and saw it runs mid 9s - a shade faster than a few old Vdubs I could list As for a skyline running high 11s? Paul H's Bay panel van (parts chaser? is nearly there at 12.5..... with the NOS off ![]() ![]() Can't find the video clip right now, I'll be back..... |

That Skyline in the UK that Richie beat had similar bhp figures to the EVO!
My hat goes off to all the UK boys in fast Buses, I suppose the BWA started it all but this year has seen some serious times from bays! With the weight and brick aerodynamics etc, I mean getting them to wheelie, how cool would one of them be over here at a drag meet!!! -------------------- Signature removed by Mod team due to offensive nature.

I think most are putting their own together, with parts from Serranos,
better to ask Stevie H or Colin, and Trev as you probably know is building a Subaru powered oval. Serranos motors do have a great reputation, their customer service however doesn't if you don't mind getting the runaround you could pick up a relatively cheap and powerful motor, check out the feedback on thesamba, the only real complaint people seem to have is broken delivery date promises |

I'll be doing mine myself, if I get rid of the Ghia!
Suppose there'll be many night ahead spent on VZI asking which bits to go for, should I fit IRS, how do I get to 13sec 1/4s on the cheap etc, etc! -------------------- Signature removed by Mod team due to offensive nature.
