From the description that would look to be a copy of the real thing . The genuine VCDS is worth every penny of the cost ..This is the one you would need to get to cover the mkv

what are you thoughs on copies?
he has sold a few, and no one has any complaints.

however i dont want to go wrecking the car for the sake of a cable.

About the copies , for every illegal copy sold means less money for Ross Tech to put into development and less free updates and improvements for those of us that have genuine cables .

Genuine cable s have full back up from Ross Tech and we are lucky to have at least 2 of the Ross Tech staff as members on here to offer help thru the forum .

ah ok , didnt realise Ross Tech were the only producers of the vag-com cables.

thanks for the info.

We're not the only source for interfaces as some of our distribs assemble their own interface with authorization from Ross-Tech after they have gone through a "vetting" process.

Nothing sold on eBay is legit from Ross-Tech or one of our distributors. We do not allow our distributors to sell on eBay.

VCDS uses a license key that the thieves break and then offer illegal copies of our product. We constantly design new protection into our devices but... the thieves are there figuring out what we do. Please keep in mind that all the thieves do is collect your money, offer you nothing but a wire which will only work with the version they illegally supply you, and they walk away. Got a problem? They are not going to provide you with a Ross-Tech Wiki or with tech support. They'll tell you to call Ross-Tech.

Whenever we can, we do prosecute and shut down the illegal sources. Unfortunately, the manufacturing of the clones comes from countries who will not support our attempts to prosecute. Every time a clone is sold, it undercuts those that earn a living putting a quality product on the market at a reasonable price. Sure, we would all like it for free. But, we have been at this for 10 years bringing the info to the public so they can work on their own cars. VW doesn't want you to have that information. They figure you will bugger your car. We figure you will unbugger the mess that some dealers make of your car! wink.gif

I'm glad to hear that you are re-considering. I hope you will become a loyal and long term VCDS user.

any discount for vagdriver members? sorry if this has been asked and answered already! I want the dongle and software that will allow me to re code modules etc. for example when i upgrade my canbus gateway or when i finally buy my bluetooth kit. etc etc.

Once I have become an experienced vcds user i will be able to offer help in hertfordshire.

I'm not just someone that wants to mess about, I am also a Plant Mechanic and ATV mechanic, so cars are not a problem in any way!

thanks
