Ive been looking at this for a while
i was looking at putting a turbo on my 8v gti pb engine
i seen this on ebay for a 2l 8v vw engine and was wondering if it would work
im not looking to get outragious bhp just a bit more
the car was running standered 111 bhp proven by joe power .Id now like to get it to 180 or 190 bhp
and was looking to see what else id need along with this kit to get it to this stage

i would like to keep the engine in it as to have something diffrent
and something thats fun to drive. As far as i can see i maybe wrong is that with this kit
runnig it at 8 psi boost i shouldnt have to change anything with the engine just bold on
and hook up and drive .... correct me if im wrong !!!!

The car already has !
superchipped ecu
g60 injectors
4branch manifold
plus the engine was only fully rebuilt 500 miles ago gaskets ect .......

all advice welcome dont wanna jump in till ive all of the facts

If you buy that kit you're still going to have to change the engine management for a turbo setup. Just simply turning up the fuel pressure like they say isn't the way to do it. you're also going to have to lower the engines compression to run the turbo safely.

Honestly although the price is good it looks like a hunk of crap...especially the turbo itself.
You could piece together a much better setup using decent parts for not that much more money.
In addition to what you have in this kit you would need either a chip programmed for boost (the superchip is not your friend here)or some sort of piggyback to control fueling, or Digi 1 (g60) engine managment, or a standalone system. The G60 injectors might get you by up to about 180hp but you would really want something bigger as the last thing you want on a turbocharged engine is to go lean.

Another thing to take into account when going turbocharged is that you will very likely get to the limits of your clutch and have to replace it with something stiffer.

Good luck, it is fun building something like this up the best way to do it IMO is to learn as much about it as possible before starting.

If I were you and I wanted that kind of power I would

a) Forget about putting a turbo on my own engine,

b ) Pick up a 1.8t conversion from a mk4 gti/ibiza cupra not a passat/a4 etc, or

c) Get a mk3 16v abf conversion and do a bit of work to it with cams exhaust and chip you will have 180+ bhp, or if you really want an 8vt

d) Get a pg g60 engine conversion ( everything minus the super charger) and put a turbo on that. This is what leon did to start with anyway. Pm davec for engines.

Yep the PB engine is definitely a better pick.
I have a PB block under an ABA crossflow head back home, but I don't think you guys got those heads here so a full PB swap is a good way to go.
I would suggest getting a specific chip for the g60 managment which is setup for a turbo rather than a supercharger, as there is a big difference in the way they boost.
Also again upgrading the injectors to match with the chip would be good as stock g60 injectors only flow about 270cc per minute and that's a bit low for a turbo if you want any more than about 155 hp.

ive done some research and found a pb engine 1.8 8v
runng

jetta dsl turbo and manifold from a 1.9 i think just say jetta dsl
turbo boosting +10 psi
2 headgaskets
g60 injectors
and a RRFPR ( rising rate fuel pressure regulator)

running on digi2 and putting out 180bhp

so i asume this can be done

unless someone can point me to a 20vt engine complete and some one willing to fit cheap??lol
