Keep at it and you'll get used to it. It takes time to get the ''feel'' in your left foot. I find the VW pedals are a bit too far apart for anything out of the ordinary. And as for heel and toe on downchange the VW pedals are not spaced well at all. On my MK1 I had moved the pedals slightly.

On the newer VW if you have feet on the brake and accelerator at the same time after a few seconds the ECU cuts power.

x2

still havnt driven a german car as good as a jap for heel and toe im afraid.

Left foot braking is gay and so not scene!

Heel and toe is very scene but you have to be in a crew and even then you can only do it when none of the other crew members are doing it and you get permission, cause that's how crews work. laugh.gif

Whats the benefit of left foot braking on public roads? Just to get practice it for trackdays? Don't see any major advantage of left foot braking to be honest, and I think its dangerous to be trying it out even on empty public roads, you will end up in a wall or ditch, damaging your car or injuring/killing yourself...

Some Vauxhall pedals are that close together you can do all the pedals with one foot... LOL

I don't see the point of doing any of this on the road to be honest, It should be kept to the track or stages. When im rallying the 106 its pedals are lovely to be honest for left foot braking and heel toe. but left foot braking for a long periods of time equals brake fade which is not nice, in the escort there is no point in left foot braking to be honest as your not slowing the driven wheels which ends up in you bull noising on the whole time while cornering.

Now heel toe is a real life saver in wet conditions, when down gearing hard in the wet the driven wheels loose grip and will lock like a cunt, by dabbing the throttle your matching the revs to make the down change smother and not loose grip and possible straight through a wall !
But doesn't really apply to road cars as their clutches aren't as aggressive as competition clutches, so again not much point in doing it on the road.

I used to practice in my old caddy but cant do it in the passat and transporter, but like riding a bike at this stage once you get it you'll not forget.
But sure no harm in practicing on the road as people are at more dangerous things on the roads beside left foot braking.....ie women doin makeup and the like rolleyes.gif

Practice on the road is for sensitivity, and I'll also practice moving my feet in pairs clutch/brake to brake/accel. But at slow speed, thats what road practice means, at slow speed. To be honest trying it on track is even worse, much higher speed and on the limit!! If you're flat out, then it's the last place to be trying something new.

Heel'n'toe is a must in a quick rwd alright, in the wet too - but it's a must if you go dog box!!!

Valid alright letting a novice jump into a car on a track not knowing what there at could be dangerous.............like me forgetting to change the break bias from the rear on the 106 after it rained........now that was fun laugh.gif

I don't have a dog box yet....................just let her keep eating baulk rings tongue.gif
