I've just about scratched all the skin off my left arm ! 150 snots would be well worth even giving it a go just to say you tryed even if you didnt get through.

I kno yea, the problem is I dont know the delta track atall. If it was watergrass hill then id be all in. Im finding it hard to justifie 150 snots for what could easily turn into just a very expencive day karting

Hi guys, Barry here. I'm one of the organisers of this event.

To address a couple of your points/questions.

As of now we have very very few existing racers taking part. I'm surprised by this to be honest but it's the case.

If you were thinking of giving it a go I would really suggest doing it this year as in future years we fully expect there to be a lot more entries (as people find out about it and see the winner of 2012 on track)

Regarding not knowing the track. It doesn't take long to learn a short kart track and all the participating circuits have very good/cheap open sessions available for a bit of practice

'It's a lottery' couldn't be further from the truth. The karting event is based on points won, that's as black and white as you can make it. Different grid position and random kart selection per race too.

Yes if you don't make it through it can be expensive, but if you don't Win the LOTTO a ticket is an expensive scrap of paper (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
The odds of getting to Mondello are at most 16/1. Less if your category doesn't sell out - which is looking possible in some cases.

If you've any more questions ask away

Its a good idea and give someone the opportunity to get a drive, which otherwise may cost them a serious amount of money!

Im actually in the final at the end of this month for a very similar competition that mondello are holding!

Just out of interest, how much does the ITCC cost to enter a car for the series?

How long is a piece of string. You would be looking at about €10k for entries, travel, testing, consumables etc. You would be doing all the work yourself and it wouldn't include capital purchases (car, trailer, race suit, equipment etc)

The prize we are offering is valued at €30,000

What a day - we couldn't have asked for better weather or a tighter competition. There was less than 1 second between the top 10 in terms of laptime and the 4 independent corner judges all scored each car (no one knew who was in what car) in pretty much the same order.

Here is a picture of the finalists at Mondello Park today with the car on offer
(IMG:http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/p480x480/523026_343204675714577_286350258066686_799389_818812443_n.jpg)

And most importantly here is the winner, John Greaney who qualified from the Ulster round after traveling from his home county of Wicklow, due to his category being sold out in Dublin. John is 20 years of age and has never competed in anything before. Not only did he receive the top score by the 4 on track judges he also had the fastest lap and performed well in the media test. In just 3 weeks John will be on the grid for his first ever car race in the ITCC at Mondello Park
