Can you not hang the engine in the scirocco mount, I know you would have to make new ones for the gear box (like any 1.8T/20V/02A conversion) Do you really need the mk3 subframe? I am no 100% myself either, is that engine a PD,why Diesel in a mk1 scirocco, would a 2.0L petrol unit not look better and be way easier to fit, you would retain the mk1 running gear and suspension, save lots of agro and be lighter.

Sorry for all the questions.

Not-tatall I love questions, Keeps me thinking.

The reason I didnt just hang it of the scirocco mount is because it seems really stressful on the car, I dont like the way the mk1 mounts straight onto the chassis. (this reasoning is based on nothing just what i think). I think using a subframe will be less stressful on the car. The subframe is being driven and the car body is just 'trailered' after it. Considering the big heavy diesel going in I think its my safest/best option. (All what i just said could be wrong, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif) )
No not a PD engine, It came in mk4s around 00. Why a diesel in a scirocco? I hope you know your not the first person to ask me that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) .
Petrol would obviously be handier, but i couldnt afford to drive it. this scirocco has targets it must meet, one is > 60MPG,
Geezus i love diesel (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

most people make a custom mount or cut a piece out of the original mount to let the turbo fit

Sound for that. Ill make up some mounts so.
Cheers

Ronan is running his 270+bhp mk1 off the original mk1 mounts.

You can buy supports that help reduce stress on the car or make your own.

A friend of mine got 540bhp from his mk1 abf turbo and it's bolted to the standard mk1 mounts.

60 mpg is nice and with the current price of fuel probably not a bad idea at all. I have never heard of a mk1 engine mount coming off, I guess with the subframe taking the stress it never will. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

pat.

Yeah Pat, I wouldnt enjoy driving it if it was costing a load just for a spin.................... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) im cheap (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) .................

I might be talking arse will the subframe, but i convinced myself months ago. Plus im the worlds worst driver AND i find every pothole

I was a bit derpy with the gearbox mount, one of any cable change box will do, as i found out after half making one from 6mm. :

(IMG:http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k547/Qbritgohm/4%20apr%202012/P4060411.jpg)

And im going to use an AAZ turbo and manifold:

yep, there will be a corresponding port in the inlet manifold, they're for the EGR system. Blank them off and forget about them...
